Together in the in the fight against cancer, in the name of life!

HISTORY

We, the patients with oncological diseases in Varna, started our biography as civil society in the month of December 2001, when voluntary was founded the first ever of its kind non-profit patients organization for people with this problem, their relatives and followers.

It was registered with a decision from January 28th 2002 in f.d.177 of VOS as Association of women with cancer and their followers.

FOUNDER OF:

National Association of Women with cancer in Bulgaria - member of the European Cancer Patient Coalition - ECPC. Bulgarian Cancer Association - BCA (consisting of cancer patient organizations from 75 cities in Bulgaria), member of the American Cancer Society - ACS.

Initiator and an active participant in the creation of the first and only present HOME OF THE PEOPLE WITH CANCER.

We keep daily contact with other organizations of patients with cancer in Varna – the Association of men with cancer and the Association of parents and relatives of children with cancer.

All together, we are united under the motto "Together in the fight against cancer, in the name of life" in the Association of Patients with cancer, or as we call it the United Community of Cancer patients in Varna and the region.


MISSION

  • To be daily as close as possible to a patient with this serious diagnosis from the first moment of getting ill
  • To share our personal experience and best practices in the fight against the disease
  • To give our support and friendship in the long-lasting and difficult treatment
  • To give of our strength, faith and motivation for life, and our hope to anyone who wants it


OUR GUIDELINES :

  • Daily work with patients
  • Weekly meetings to help patients with answers to questions and specific information about the mechanisms and methods of treating cancer in Bulgaria
  • Monthly meetings on the subject "Let's talk about cancer"
  • Visits to hospital departments
  • Courses in self-education - "How to learn to live with a diagnosis of cancer"
  • Provides, meetings with a social worker for talks, lawyer for legal advice and protection of patients rights
  • Organize for the patients in need individual consultations with a psychologist and gives an opportunity for treatment if necessary


WHAT ARE OUR AIMS?

  • A proper public behaviour and tolerance in respect to cancer diseases and patients with this problem
  • More frequent and openly talk about cancer disease
  • Attracting qualified staff for medical care or assistance at home
  • Assistance in resolving health and socio-economic problems
  • Assisting in the protection of rights in the best way
  • Systematic work with institutions for better service for patients and improvement of the prevention
