THE
FIRST AND ONLY ONE IN THE COUNTRY PLACE FOR PATIENTS WITH CANCER, THEIR
RELATIVES AND FRIENDS – THE HOME OF THE PEOPLE WITH CANCER in Varna,
turned 5 years!  In 2003 the first and only of its kind in Bulgaria, Home of the people with cancer, opened doors to support and assist a very special group of people carrying the heavy cross of the treacherous disease cancer, but having an incredible charge of faith, hope and love. On September 11th 2008 from 18.00 hours in the municipality of Varna modestly but with confidence we noted the 5th birthday of the patients’ Home – Home of hope and light, as we the ones who have overcome the disease, call it.   The hours of the celebration, attended by hundreds of friends, donors, followers and volunteers, working devotedly during those five years at the Home, passed with warmth in our souls, love in the hearts and faith in life.   Among the official guests were: Mr. Kiril Yordanov - MAYOR OF THE BEST CITY TO LIVE - VARNA Prof. Dr. Lydia Dunova Petkova - Chairwoman of the Commission for Social Affairs and Housing Policy in Municipal Council Mrs. Vanuhi Arakelyan - Chairwoman of the Varna District Court Dr. Zdravko Markov - Director of Social Affairs and Housing Policy Administration in the municipality of Varna Mrs. Luisa Kasparyan - Head of Division Social work and Housing in the municipality of Varna Mr. Dimitar Milenkov - Head of Division Health in the municipality of Varna Mrs. Maria Chankova - Director of the Regional Directorate for Social Welfare and Chairwoman of the Council for adoption in Varna Mrs. Dimitrichka Kuncheva - Head of the Directorate of Social Welfare in Varna Dr. Gospodin Ignatov - Manager of the Oncodispensary in Varna Prof. Dr. Hristo Ganchev - Director of the Medical College at University of Varna and many other doctors and nurses from the Oncodispensary and St. Marina Hospital. Our special guests were: from SOFIA - Prof. Ilario Astinov - Vice President of the Rotary club Serdika Sofia and Chairman of Blagodeyatel foundation and the chairwomen of the related organizations from: BOTEVGRAD - Mrs. Veselka Marinova - member of the Board of BCA, DOBRICH - Mrs. Sofi Yordanova - member of the Board of BCA, ЕTROPOLE - Mrs. Nevena Kalmakova, CHERVEN BRIAG - Mrs. Vili Kusheva,   On the occasion of the jubilee the documentary film "Sledi nepisani"(Unwritten marks) was presented, a project of the Rotary Club Sofia - Serdika and the Blagodeyatel foundation. The film tells about our Home of the people with cancer. It was the most wonderful gift we have not even dreamed of.   The many participants, the plenty of flowers we received, the baskets and the congratulatory addresses from Minister Petar Dimitrov, members of the parliament Prof. Dr. Stanka Marincheva and Denitza Dimitrova, Varna Municipality and the Municipal Council, made us feel special and supported by so many people we always dare to call friends. Thanks to this support, respect and awareness that we received in abundance, we will continue with even greater commitment and confidence to work voluntarily and with love for the noble cause to which we are committed.  |
