On
February 28th 2008 due to the coming holidays in March, members of the
patients organization and their friends from Varna visited children
with cancer treated at the oncohematology department of the St. Marina
Hospital and adults at the Department of Palliative Care at Base 2 of
the Dispensary in Asparuhovo.
The young girl - IRKA, voluntary contributor to the organization,
helping at the Home of the people with cancer turned into Baba Marta
and told the legend of the traditional Bulgarian Martenitsa which bears
with itself the spirit of our ancestors and a message bequeathed to us
for centuries.
She tied a martenitsa for health at each child’s hand, gave the
children presents from the basket full of personal gifts - a bear with
a clover for health, ladybug for good luck and the favourite to all of
them a chocolate egg. Each child received two bags, one with sweets and
one with fruits.
For each adult we had prepared a martenitsa, a clover for luck, a bag
full of fruits and one with sweets.
Because of the holidays the following two days we visited lonely
members of the organization who move difficult. The visits, initiated
by the patient organization, were on the eve of the forthcoming March,
a month full of holidays.
The month of a new beginning, a month and
season for new hope!
The month when nature wakes up and fills us with new life, recharge us
with new powers!
