RECOGNITION
THE ASSOCIATION
OF WOMEN WITH CANCER - VARNA
WON THE AWARD FOR MOST EFFICIENT VOLUNTARY, NON-GOVERNMENTAL AND
NON-PROFIT BULGARIAN ORGANIZATION
At the official ceremony during
the international
meeting "For Effective Donorship” held on September 18th 2006 at
Vitosha Park Hotel - Sofia the winners in the competition "Best
Performance" were announced.
Twenty-three
non-profit organizations competed for first and second place in the
contest, organized by the Bulgarian Charities Aid Foundation.
They competed with their most successful socially significant
achievements over the past 3 years.
We
won first prize with the project "Home of the people with cancer" - the
only one in the country with a working team of volunteer assistants and
supporters.
The
awarded organizations received a trophy, made by the sculptor Kostadin
Nenov and a money prize to be spent on one of our projects.

"SOCIAL INTEGRATION AND REHABILITATION OF WOMEN WITH
CANECR" IS A PROJECT OF SZHOZTS VARNA. IT WON THE AWARD PROJECT OF YEAR
2006.
In October 2006 Tulip
Foundation
announced a competition for the best project of NGO in the social
sphere for year 2006. The initiative was organized for the second time
and was provoked by the many good projects implemented the recent years
throughout the country. Each project is a result of the effort of
people who have given a lot from themselves for its successful
functioning.
In the contest were invited to take part
civil society organizations, which during that year had put into
practice a project aimed at improving conditions, opportunities and
quality of life of specific groups of people with disabilities or of
the community in a given district
There were 37 nominations from across
the country. The submitted
projects were evaluated according to the achieved results: the
sustainability of activities in time, financial performance,
participation of the target groups and the local community, innovation
and feasibility of the idea in other districts.
The aim of
this project is to improve the quality of life of new patients with
cancer and the ones in remission. The project involves overcoming the
negative consequences of the diagnosis cancer such as - lack of
adequate and timely emotional support, denial of contact and social
environment, lack of information for social and psychological support,
not enough attention from the public and responsible institutions and
lack of motivation to deal with the disease.

of Year 2006 was made by

DEAR FRIENDS,
We
are extremely happy and grateful with the awards we received!
For us they are an expression of public recognition for our voluntary
work and the cause to which we are committed!
We
see our idea being carried out - people with cancer, friends and family
join us in a community. Let us call it United community of patients
with oncological diseases in Varna and the region.
Besides
the daily emotional support and assistance in solving the existing
problems related to improving the quality of our lives, we have the
ambition to become a mainstay for people with cancer and work to
protect their interests!
We want
to give our hope to everyone who wants it!
